Your animation ideas are all here!  Some of these effects are easy to achieve, while other films in this collection are the culmination of countless hours spent moving clay figures and tiny props.  What’s important is that in every clip there is inspiration for teaching and learning.

This ‘Paper iPod’ clip gives me some ideas…great lesson seed for your classroom and a useful resources for beginning stop-motion investigations.

Most classrooms have some resource limitations, but most also have these wooden mannequins – another lesson seed here!

Post It notes!  Great idea.  I’ve seen these kinds of clips done with lego, kids blocks…anything that stacks or collections of like objects can work with this style of animation.

Skittles! This one has really got me thinking – what is in those student lunch boxes?

T-shirt Wars mix screen printing with stop-frame animation.  I love this clip because it’s a great example of cross-dsciplinary practice and creativity across diverse mediums.  If you are interested in these ideas, watch out for my post on using the iPad in our screen-printing unit – coming soon!  You’ll see how students trial processes virtually using apps, use their designs to create pop-art and investigate Andy Warhol on the iPad, and then make animations to reflect on the process of taking an idea into a design and through to production. And all this while they create a screen print on a canvas bag!
